Worthington utilizes a specifically engineered and developed “two step” V.O.C. complaint water based “double paint coat” process for complete paint coverage on its high-density polyurethane foam products marketed today.
Initial first coat application commences with the application of a “barrier coat” paint coat “introduced” directly to the “mold” causing a chemical bonding directly to the product as it is being “formed and cured.” The second coat application completes the elegant white finish providing maintenance free beauty. Due to the lack of moisture absorption by Worthington’s polyurethane products’ there is no peeling, cracking, or splintering, unlike wood products commonly known to demonstrate peeling, cracking, or splintering.
Before the application of a different top coat paint to the factory finished product, all surfaces must be free of any contaminates, specifically “dirt, “grease”, and/or “oils” that may be present either due to installation and/or from transit to the “ultimate customer.” Cleaning of these present “contaminates” can be eliminated with the use of equal amounts of water and ammonia prior to painting.
Since all “WorthingtonUrethane™” products are subject to thermal expansion and contraction, it is recommended that consideration to “lighter” paints be selected in your choice of colors, as darker colors absorb more radiation than lighter colors. Flat, Eggshell and Satin Finishes are recommended due to their slight porous nature during the curing process.
Worthington warrants to the original consumer purchasing our product, that the exterior white primer paint finish provided on all of our products will be free from UV ray degradation, blistering and paint peeling under normal use for a period of two (2) years from the date of original purchase.
